The paint-by-numbers process
I built my career on a repeatable system for getting big work done, and every renovation follows the same disciplined order. Six steps, plain English, and you always know what happens next.
- 01
Start with a call
We talk through your goals, your home, and your budget. You get a straight read on what is possible and what it takes, and a realistic picture of the road ahead.
What I handle
Listen first, then map your goals against your home and your budget.
What you'll always know
Whether your project is realistic, and roughly what it involves.
- 02
Walk the home and scope it
A careful site visit to measure, inspect the systems, and list what changes. We separate must-haves from nice-to-haves before anything is priced.
What I handle
Walk every room, check the systems, and build the full scope.
What you'll always know
What is included, what is optional, and what the bones look like.
- 03
Plan, budget, and schedule
A written plan with real numbers: scope, materials, timeline, and a contingency. You approve every line before any work begins.
What I handle
Turn the scope into a detailed plan, estimate, and written schedule.
What you'll always know
Exactly what the project costs and when each phase happens.
- 04
Order and prepare
Materials are ordered early, permits are handled, and the site is protected. Ordering ahead is what keeps the schedule from waiting on cabinets and counters.
What I handle
Order materials, pull permits, and prep the work area.
What you'll always know
What is on order, what is approved, and when work starts.
- 05
Build with updates
Crews work the plan phase by phase, with regular updates and a clean job site. Surprises are handled honestly, against the plan and the contingency.
What I handle
Run the trades, manage the schedule, and update you regularly.
What you'll always know
Where the project stands and what happens next, every week.
- 06
Finish and walk through
A final walkthrough goes over every detail, the punch list is closed, and the job is done right before we hand the room back. You approve the finish.
What I handle
Walk the finished work with you and close out every detail.
What you'll always know
The work is complete, and the finish matches the plan.
Step one is a conversation, not a commitment
Book 30 minutes, describe your project, and walk away knowing exactly what step two is.
Book step oneWhere are you in the planning?
Tell me what you have decided so far, and I will tell you exactly which step comes next.
